New Stop Light in General Trias
« on: March 22, 2017, 10:22:39 AM »
Well the stop light at Gov Ferrer and Governors Drive in Manggahan, Gen Trias, Cavite is operational.  For those of you that know the area this is the corner with the McDonald's.  Guessing it was activated on Monday since I went through there last Friday and it was not operational.  Governors Drive is a 6 lane highway at that intersection.  When we came home yesterday through that intersection Governors Drive now has a dedicated left turn lane(center lane in each direction.  Of course there is no left turn only arrows on the pavement.  So when we finally get to the intersection about 6-8 cars back and the left turn light come on we can not proceed since the other cars are going straight and that signal light is still red.  Lucky for us there was a traffic controller at the light and waive us into the counter flow lane since that traffic still had a red light because of the left turn light.  That corner may be a problem for awhile til drivers get used to the lights, plus of course left turn only arrows on the lane might help some, for the Filipino drivers that actually follow the signage. ::)

Did your new signal lights in General Trias improve the flow of traffic?
In our area beginning at the Green City Industrial Parkway intersection all the way through Laguna Ave headed towards the main Silang/Tagaytay road, traffic now stretches for miles!
All these new intersection signal lights just made traffic worse especially during weekdays an hour before and after lunch hour and on the weekends due to out of towners and or tourists. I hate those left turn lights where there are no left turn lanes!
We now have traffic enforcers all over the place ever since all these new intersection signal lights were installed. What a fiasco! That's why I only drive during non rush hour traffic in our area. I never drive in Makati, it's crazy there with all their one-way streets and parking space is almost nonexistent!
Anyway, where in the Philippines that doesn't have traffic congestion, except for maybe in some long stretches of highways out in the provinces.

Art,

Traffic flow was about the same as normal for just after 4 pm, backed up til Waltermart and the Wet/Dry market on the Trece Marties side.

Here, they shut the lights off and physically direct traffic at main intersections during peak periods (at least, when the traffic controllers aren't standing around or sitting in their vehicles, talking). It doesn't really help.

The side streets along the main highways are almost all unregulated and without traffic directors. Drivers force themselves onto the highway as other drivers force themselves into left turns across the highway. This creates massive backups. Which is why traffic controllers are needed...ad nauseam, ad infinitum.
