A new law to be aware of but will it be enforced equally?

MANILA, Philippines - The ban on the use of mobile phones while driving is now in effect following the publication of the implementing rules and regulations (IRR) of Republic Act 10913 or the Anti-Distracted Driving Act.

Motorists can still use their phones provided this is done hands-free.

“They can use headphones. They can use their smart phones without holding it because the law states that drivers should not be distracted in driving even during the stoplight or temporary stop,” Land Transportation Office (LTO) executive director Romeo Vera Cruz said yesterday.

“If they are using Waze, the device should not be positioned in a way that would distract the driver,” LTO Law Enforcement Service director Francis Ray Almora said yesterday in a phone interview.

LOL! I've been known to use my FourSevens QuarkPro to help with tricycle headlights. I get a lot of head shakes.

I have never used my cellphone while driving.
So, It's good that there Is now a ban in the Philippines. There sooner it's enforced,  hopefully the sooner there will be less serious accidents.

Art, either you are dreaming or you have been drinking. ;)  They do not follow/enforce the laws concerning helmets/proper shoes/number of riders for motorcycles, working tail lights/brake lights, using head lights at night, etc.  What makes you think they would enforce this?  Okay it will be enforced on the foreigners just like the helmets are enforced.

Anything is possible Chuck. They now have more reasons to drum up revenue, especially those unsuspecting naive foreigners. You also forgot the smoking ban Du30 just implemented.  ::) ??? :o ;)
