AND THE BAND PLAYED ON
« on: November 30, 2010, 01:32:32 AM »
My Kids - Mayuga National High School Drum and Bugle  band placed 1st  runner up (category B) and won P50,000 in the Alturas Drum & Bugle Corps Showdown 2010 held in Tagbilaran, Bohol November 28th

Bohol Chroniocle lead up article........ http://www.boholchronicle.com/2010/nov/28/comm1.htm

Bands from Visayas and Mindanao competing - our guys are from a small village in the hills -talent is everywhere!

Glo & I very proud sponsors of 10 kids (from Glorias home barangay in the interior of eastern Bohol) so that the band had the minimum required members to compete in competitions

Our original additions to the band.....in 2007

It\'s especially rewarding when they go on and really achieve something.

Beaten out of first place by school band from CDO

Our kids from Bayong walk 5km, each way, to the high school in Mayuga every day

Kids in the UK would be screaming and whining if they had to walk for five minutes, let alone five km.

Lovely pictures though.

What fascinates me about their 5km trip to school, is their enduring perseverence......

Getting to school is not so bad......but after a long day at school, it\'s 5km UPHILL to get back home......but  they are up and ready to do it all again the following day  :)

This is the stock from which my wife came.... ;D
