Even Museums Are Having Hard Times
« on: July 18, 2009, 01:43:20 PM »
I got this at an auction in the USA and it\'s from a museum that\'s selling some of their treasures to make expenses:

Philippine Kris

22\" serpentine blade with traditional notched carving at base.

Wire-wrapped wooden grip with engraved copper ferrules.

Nickel-plated steel pommel.

Wooden scabbard with rawhide wraps.

Museum inventory numbers painted on throat of scabbard.

Condition: Good.

Showing wear and age patina overall.

That looks amazing, I would love to own one of those. I wonder if some enterprising individual over here could make a replica of that and other similar weapons.

Ask your local Sultan. They all have em passed down the lines...

But copies I have seen - seem to think we dont know the difference between cut sheet metal and hammered steel.
I have seen so much conflict while in the Philippines - amazingly 99% of it was merely online computer experiences :D
