Performance Warning!
« on: December 31, 2013, 10:43:33 AM »
When posting my last entry I got a warning message at the top of my page saying:

!!Performance Warning
The cache directory is not writable - this will adversely affect the performance of your forum

This is the first time I've seen this warning and decided to take the following measures.
I emptied the file cache and emptied out all unimportant logs, two of my admin tools.

Should anyone see this or any other warnings when posting, please send me a notice so that I can correct them.

Thanks!   :)

Please tell me that this is not some euphemism you old guys use when your "hardware" isn't working properly
Sounds like FD - Forum Dysfunction
Maybe you should use the little blue cache cleaner
LOL!!!

I would say its the files on the server which backend settings wont solve. If the cache directory is not writable it means the correct permission settings for the cache folder are not set.

Perhaps, but once I cleared file cache the warning message disappeared.  The little blue cache cleaner has us functioning like a 20yr old again!   :D

Theres actually others with the same problem. A google search or simple machines forum might solve this for you as others have asked why and without going into detail its best to read for yourself as its complicated.
Clearing the cache should do nothing if the cache files are not writable as there would be nothing there to clear.  :)

I've solved the issue now so there is no reason to worry.  I have more tools and sources available than I let everyone know about.   ;)

No comment as my mind went straight to the gutter when you started talking about wrist action.
