Birthday Celebration
« on: January 01, 2014, 10:40:11 AM »
Today is Tatay's birthday.  He is 82.  My birthday is actually Jan 5 but today we will celebrate together and have a large party for both of us.
The ladies cooked all day and into the night yesterday.  Cousins, sisters and neighbors will all converge on our house today around 1pm, each bringing some special dish to share as we celebrate the birthday of my Dad and myself.  There are already balloons filling the living room marked "Happy Birthday Tatay" and "Happy Birthday Kuya Jack".

I anticipate another long, loud day filled with every imagineable delicacy and lots of celebration.  It should be fun!

Oh, by the way, I'm 63... going on 9      ;D  :)  8)  8)

Guess I better say Happy Birthday now. I will no doubt forget to say it later and forgetting is something more and more familiar as I too add another year.

Thank you to everyone for the birthday greetings!  Now, here's my birthday report:

The day and night before (12/31) was spent drinking and shooting fireworks, as reported here earlier.  Well it seems I found my limit on San Mig's and Red Horse as well as how much gunpowder smoke one can inhale during fireworks celebrations.  I went over the limit on both and ended up with a massive hangover plus a respiratory infection from the dang gunpowder smoke.  But, being the iron-willed individual and trooper that I am, I carried on Jan 1 and enjoyed a very nice birthday celebration with the family.

After eating a little of everything (and more than a little of some things) I spent the remainder of the day on the rooftop nursing my hangover and trying to stay cool.  With an entire house full of people and food, no matter how many fans we turned on, I was still overheating and feeling crowded.  I came down from time to time just to see who was there and what they were doing.  Nothing changed, they were all still there and still eating.   :D

But everyone, including me, had a great time.  Enjoy the photos!   :)
