Hello to all of the followers,.

Lee I do plan on coming in January but not sure as of where yet.. If I am in Cebu in February I will buy coffee, lol.

Art you are right, it only seems like I have been working 60 years, lol. I did start when I was 18 years old. In between 2 of my professions (2000- 2001)I lived in SE Asia for 1 year. What I learned from all of the culture and the people it changed my life and my way of thinking for ever. SE Asia will always have a piece of my heart. Bali I used Bali as my place of residence for that year. Since then I have been to Philippines on  3 or 4 different occasions. (Manila, Cebu, Bohol, Puerta Princessa & Davao). Besides the culture, and the people, I think Philippines has a very good hospitals , doctors and staff. I have check a few out including St Lukes. Plus all the Dentists & optical. I just go on on talking about all the opportunities for a person to reire in the Philippines.

In Canada if a person works and lives here for more than 20 years we can retire with full pension, in many places. I think Philippines is one of the better choices for me. I love culture, people, the many traditions and the weather, if you need a bath just stand outside when it raining with soap and a smile.

I am coming, lol. just need to find the place, that has the most smiles, how can a person live everywhere in the Philippines, lol.
I just do not  prefer to live in big cities. When I was in a small town in Indonesia, it had only 1,000,000 people and I was there for only 4 days and many of the local knew I was there, that white person with a smile. lol. :) :)

Seems appropriate to use the "travelguy" as your username! I'd like to hear more of your past adventures in SE Asia, what you have seen and done and maybe some photos of your exploits to share! You sound like a very interesting kind of guy where as some people back in the U.S. never even left their hometown or backyard in their neck of the woods for that matter! I guess some us are just adventurers, born in a foreign country and or it's just in our blood puddle jumping or whatever! ??? :o ;)

Hello,

Good afternoon, Philippines, I just finished volunteering working in Casino for raising money for community groups, that iswhy I am still 1/2 awake, lol.

I  was in Indonesia the first time for only 30days in 1998, the second time for 6 months I arrived shortly before 9/11. The next time 2 months after the Sari club bombing..

The last time I arrived in Manila was the same weekend as the bombing of the mall in Makati

The population of Indonesia is just a little less than USA.

I am sorry  I do not speak Bhasa or Tagalog, I have much to learn.

In the past I always travel with locals it helps them ( $ ) and it helps me.

Thank you all for sharing and your kind  words.  :)

Gray Wolf,

It is only a few bad apples that is in the barrel, causing harm to others.
It is all those smiles in SE Asia that will keep it safe.

Locals Truly Care!  :) :)

Only a few bad apples, eh?   Current estimates are only 15-20% of all Muslims are "bad apples".  With a current worldwide population of just over 2 Billion Muslims that means that there are approximately 300-400 million "bad apples" just waiting to spoil your day.

Yes, Lipa, Batangas is a good starting point. A friend of ours has a 800 sq mtr lot there developed by the Ayala Corporation and just finished his house build of a 1 level bungalow style home for only P1 million (lot already paid in full) and has a bunch of fruit trees on his property he planted himself.
Actually his property is in a subdivision called Hacienda Sta Monica by AVIDA in Lipa, Batangas with huge lots meant for also agricultural planting of whatever the owner's fancy and has a nice clubhouse with a community swimming pool, tennis and basketball court surrounded by tall trees and lush landscaping!
The below link is the subdivision where our friend bought his property developed by the Ayala Corporation aka AVIDA. AVIDA is a reputable developer! They built our Sta Rosa home in 1999 from a vacant empty lot and 15 years later, it turned out to be a well developed respectable residential community with about 600 homes in our gated subdivision and the surrounding areas has also developed nicely, especially Nuvali, our new huge neighboring subdivision development also owned and being developed by AVIDA!
