New Smart LTE home device with 700 mhz
« on: December 20, 2017, 01:15:48 AM »
Just thought I would pass this along, it might help those of you who are not getting good speeds since lots of older devices do not include the newer 700 mhz frequency.

Since I threw Globe out the front door last year, I have not had a bit of trouble with my internet.  And it is not because I do not have internet now.  Yes, I do. Through my cable company.

I have had the same cable company for a few years.  When I moved, the first one I had was not allowed in the territory I am in now.  Anyway, I was getting internet through Globe.  Now, I get it through my cable company.  And I went from either 3 or 5 (I forgot) with a ceiling that slowed it down on the unlimited, to 15 and no slow down.  All for basically about 150 to 200 more than I was paying both the cable company and Globe combined.  That amount includes the cost of a land line separate from the cable company since I also was getting my landline through Globe when I booted them head first out.  The only gripe I got with the cable company is that I lost my news station.  I don't really think it is their fault though as it seems very difficult to get that channel here now so I am not holding it against them.  I have been able to find what I am looking for mostly on the internet and Youtube.  With the speed and the reliablility I get from the cable company, streaming is working fine.

I'm assuming you mean fibre Bud.  Can you share which provider you use.  PLDT have recently installed fibre in my area and looking at their packages.

Well guys and gals, I bought one and tried it and it works better than my home unit with an antenna on the home unit, so I guess the 700 mhz does make a difference, at least it does where we live.

Note, the off on switch feels like a piece of junk so I am using it with a power strip to turn it on and off, to prevent a future failure which would sure to happen to that cheap on off switch.

When I first move here, I had CableLink for cable TV and internet.  Then a few years ago I moved to where I am now.  It was not part of CableLink's territory so I could not transfer the service.  Because of that, I got SkyCable TV service only as they did not have the lines in for internet at the time.  I made the wrong choice in phone and internet service though as I got Globe.  I eventually threw Globe out because of absolutely prolonged poor service.  By then, SkyCable was able to provide me internet along with TV.  By the way, although I am totally happy with SkyCable, PLDT has now put in their fibre lines so I will have another option if SkyCable happens to go to crap.

The Smart device is making being on the internet with a Smart LTE device easier by having an app on my phone called My Smart Account that shows icons at the bottom to pick plans from and also eload and pasaload, so picking plans has gotten much easier because I do not have to search online to see what plans are available, I just click on the icon on my phone and it lists them all, including call and text plans that I can use on my phone as well as some others and it also shows my load balance and remaining data available as well as the plans listed below
FOX390
UFC fight pass  p450
UFC Pay-per-view  p690
UFC PPV p920
Video Timeout P10 or p25
LTE Prime 100
Home Boost 50,100, 349, 599,15
Giga Surf 50, p99, p299, p799,
Surfmax50,85,200,250,500,995
All night Bundle p20
Video Time 299,499
Big Bytes 5,10, 15, 30,70
YOutube 5,25,50,199
Gigsnight 15
SURFMAX Plus100, 350,600,995
FB Time 10,50
Chat Time 20

and last at the bottom is says create your own package, I have not tried a lot of the ones listed or to create my own package but I thought for those of you who have internet problems and who might be near LTE towers, this device might help some of you, and for p1995, and I have seen them on sale for p1800 and it comes with free 10GB of data good for 7 days, it might be worth buying for some of you who might like all the options it provides.

To add to the above post, if you use the app for a cell phone, it will show different available plans than when you use it for a data device. Great app, I think everyone should try it.

I found out something else interesting from one of my neighbor friend, Home Boost 15 or other denominations, p15 = 1GB data (must be loaded with Giga Surf 50 or any of the Home Boost or SurfMax Plus, can only be obtained when using one of these devices, so buying the device could make prepaid internet less expensive overall since it includes 10GB of data good for the first 7 days and allows Home Boost.
Power up your Smart Bro Home Wifi with Home Boost!Exclusively for Smart Bro Prepaid Home Wifi users.
