UK Passport Renewal
« on: June 11, 2019, 02:09:09 PM »
I recently sent off my passport renewal bits and pieces to HMPO Liverpool.

Today I received my new one. No EU logo on the passport (hooray!) but it's still the crappy burgandy colour (groan!)

Just to show how "quick" it was, here's the time frame.

On the Monday I sent, by registered (Track and Trace) mail, the old one with the bits and pieces, from our local post office in Dinalupihan, Bataan.

It didn't appear on the PhilPost tracking site for 10 days (on the following Wednesday night) and when it did, it showed that it had just arrived at the international postal centre at NAIA. Only 10 days to travel 65 kms or so!

I even checked with my local PO, 9 days after posting, but all they could say was they had a signature in the book, when it was picked up by the PhilPost driver to go to Manila. They could not find any reference on their PhilPost intranet, either.

It was finally recorded as leaving NAIA on the Saturday night and was logged in to the Royal Mail Heathrow handling site, early Monday morning. It was received by HMPO Liverpool on the Tuesday.

The new passport was printed on Wednesday the 5th, collected by DHL (UK) on Friday 7th. and I received it today Tuesday 11, at 10.45 am.

So kudos to HMPO and DHL and a raspberry to PhilPost!

At least I won't have to go through this rigamarole for another 10 years or so - I hope, touch wood!!!!

The moral of the story is, I suppose, don't expect PhilPost to be a postal service with the customer care in mind.
