GONORRHEA is a disease caused by a bacteria shaped like two kidney beans and known as "Neisseria Gonorrhea". From the time of contact until symptoms are seen, ..Gonorrhea is already infectious and can spread to others. The disease shows few or no symptoms until later complications occur..
SIGNS AND SYMPTOMS
Urethal discharges
painful urination usually 3-7 days after sexual contact
swelling of testicles
For Gonorrhea involving the anus and pharynx:
Blood 'and/or mucus on stools, cramps, abdominal pain, itching of anus, pus or feeling of fullness or discomfort.
Persistent sore throat in low area o pharynx.
PREVENTION
The community should help in dissemination of information on how to recognize gonorrhea and motivate patients to submit for continuous treatment.
Check up sex partners and avoid contact if pus, sores, rashes or itchiness are present.
Wash sex organs with soap and water before and immediately after sexual contact.
Use rubber condoms
Urinate before and after sexual contact.
For high risk groups such as hospitality girls, sauna bath attendants ,etc.
TREATMENT
If you suspect that you have the disease or had contact with one who has the disease, see your doctor for proper diagnosis and treatment. Avoid self-medication to prevent resistant cases of Gonorrhea.
EARLY TREATMENT will prevent:
Sterility
Gonorrheal arthritis
Pelvic Inflammatory Disease
Blindness in Infants
Heart Disease
Meningitis
AVOID GONORRHEA ... A new type has been detected which secretes an enzyme which destroys penicillin, and is therefore more difficult to treat.
Syphilis
SYPHILIS is caused by a spirochete bacteria, "Treponema pallidum".
"Treponema pallidum" germs enter the body through the penis, vagina, mouth or rectum and may also enter through sores, cuts or other breaks in the skin.
Symptoms After Exposure
Hard painless sore (Chancre) at the site of entrance disappears in 1-5 weeks
Swollen lymph gland
More signs may appear within six months after contact.
Painless blister-like marks usually on palms of hands and soles of feet or anywhere in the body
White patches on gums or mouth
Swollen Glands
Hair loss in patches
Sore throat, Fever
Most infected persons NEVER NOTICE ANY SIGNS.

Periodic check-up and physical examination every two weeks for high risk groups such as hospitality girls, sauna bath attendants, also for
Everyone with possible signs
Everyone exposed to a known case
Everyone treated for syphilis
Persons with many different partners

TREATMENT
If you have been exposed see a doctor immediately.
If you are a diagnosed case
If you have had recent sexual contact to a known case
See a doctor immediately
For high risk groups such as hospitality girls, massage attendants, etc.
laboratory examination (VDRL) every six months is advised.
AVOID SEXUAL CONTACT until all signs are gone and all treatment completed.
