Causes of Disease:
Gum disease is caused by dental plaque which is a
sticky, colorless, nearly transparent film which
continuously forms- on the teeth when oral hygiene
is neglected and, causes irritation to the gum
which becomes inflamed.
There are certain factors
that help increase dental plaque:
| 1.

rough and uneven surface
in which plaque can easily accumulate |
|
2.
Over-hanging dental restoration - This
acts as area for plaque to accumulate |
|
3.
Crooked Teeth - This serve as area of
accumulation of food particles |
TREATMENT
The cause should be eliminated. To begin
with, any plaque must be removed from all
surfaces of the teeth and this must be maintained. In advance cases, dentist may
have to resort to minor gum surgery.
