MUNTINLUPA CITY

Area and Location

Muntinlupa is located at the southwestern part of Metropolitan Manila, bounded in the north by Taguig, on the northwest by Paranaque, on the west by Las Pinas, on the southwest by Laguna, and on the east by Laguna de Bay. It has a land area of about 4,670 hectares, the fourth largest in Metropolitan Manila area.

Geographic Profile

This city is not as thickly populated as the other cities in the NCR.

How to Get There

Buses, jeepneys, taxis, and tricycles bound for Muntinlupa are available in many parts of Metro Manila.

TOURIST ATTRACTIONS

Name and Location and Description

Alabang Town Center [Ayala-Alabang-Zapote Road] This commercial center is frequented by the residents of Ayala-Alabang Village because of its proximity to the residential area.

Filinvest Festival Mall [Filinvest Corporate City Ayala-Alabang] The largest mall in the country and even in Asia in terms of lot area. Like the Metropolis it also has an indoor theme park.

Manuela Metropolis [Below the Muntinlupa South Super Highway Flyover] One of the largest malls in the country, it only one that has an indoor theme park and resort.

New Bilibid Prisons [(National Penitentiary) National Bureau of Prison Reservation, Barangay Poblacion] There are several attractions found within the NBP compound: Jamboree Lake, considered the smallest lake in the Philippines; the Japanese Shrine, the burial site of Japanese soldiers who died during World War II; and Memorial Hill where highest ranking officials were interred. The state penitentiary was established on January 22, 141 and houses 7,000 prisoners to date.

Yamashita Shrine The shrine stands on the burial site of General Yamashita and other Japanese soldiers who died during World War II.

Liwasan ng mga Bayani [Central Park, Alabang] Once used as a camp by members of the Katipunan during the revolutionary period.
