While talking about holidays, be sure you do not forget a Filipino's friend's. birthday, almost sacred to them. If you are married, and forget as I once did (I had a good excuse, testifying in a US Federal Court in Washington, D. C.) you may be as sorry as I was. It is not necessary to give a present if you can't afford it. But if you are here, some kind of recognition is needed, if it only a greeting. A card will do. But if you have a real Filipino friend do try to understand how important this day is to her/him, and do give a present, even if it is small time.
