THE KINDS AND USES OF WORDS
 

Ang polong maó ang tingog nga tigpadayág sa
panghonáhoná ug pangbati sa tawo.

The words are sounds or voices that tell the thoughts and feelings of a friend.

Kinds and Numbers
 
Agád sa ilang kagamitan dihâ sa pahayag, ang mga polong mayano pagkabahin sa 5 ka matang: sustantivo, adjetivo, verbo, adverbio, panal-ot.

In a sentence, words are differentiate into 5
kinds according to use: Noun, Adjective, Verb, Adverb, Particle


I. SUSTANTIVO:  Ang sustantivo maó ang polong nga labing essencial dihâ sa pahayag  u gang tigkahologan og tawo, kahimtang, katongdanan, botang nga makita ug dimakita ug dapit. Pananglitan:
Marilou libro inahan doctor maghuhulma
baláy luwag bolak kalisud kaangayan kapalaran
Leyte Hilongos barangay bokid bánika linaw

I. NOUN: The nouns are words that are most  essential in a sentence and denote persons, state, professions, things that are seen and not seen, and places.
Example:
Marilou  book mother doctor molder.

house ladle flower dilemma equity destiny.
Leyte Hilongos barangay mountain dull/fun lagoon.
 

II. ADJETIVO: Ang adjetivo maó ang polong nga tigtog-an sa kaunsahan ug kaisipan sa sustantivo. Pananglitan:
mabugnaw ginadili batan-on
maulawon bantugan mapasalamaton

II. ADJECTIVE: Adjective are words that tell about the nouns.
Examples:
icy illegal juvenile bashful famous grateful


III. VERBO: Ang verbo maó ang ikadohang
essencial nga polong ug tigtog-an sa tino nga
hisgot sa kaunsahan ug kalihokan sa hisgotanan kon sujeto sa pahayag.
Pananglitan:
maó dona gama likay papas baktas

III. VERB: The Verb is the second essential
word of a sentence and tell us the action
of the subject in the sentence.
Example:is there is tukod elude delete hike

IV. ADVERBIO: Ang adverbio maó ang polong nga kabolug sa verbo u gang tigtog-an sa linihokán sa verbo.
Pananglitan:
Siya mikatawa pag-ayo
Siya misamót pagkatawa.

IV. ADVERB: The adverb is the verb that describe the verb and tell the action of the verb.
Example:
She/He laugh much.
The more she/he laugh.

N.B. Sa dilang’ visayâ ang adverbio (somala sa itaas nga mga pananglitan) madogtongan sa pangverbong langikit nga tigtog-an kanos-a nahimo ang lihok.

Take Note: On the visayan language the adverb (through the example above given) it will be added with verbal affix that tell when the action has been done.
 

V. PANAL-OT. Ang panal-ot maó ang polong nga igasal-ot  sa ubang polong sa pahayag aron mahapsay ang ipasabót sa tagsólat kon tagsolti. Pananglitan
Siya mikaon og kaimito.
Ang balay ni Ana nindot.
Kini mâoy alang  kang Jeffry.
Ania ang mga  sanga sa Narra.
adto kang  tiya og tiyo Kini gikan ni  Jasmine.
Si Emma ana-a ba diha. Aban bohata na kanâ.


V. PARTICLE. The particle is the word that is placed in the other word in the sentence, so it will become clear of what the writer and the speaker convey.
Example:
She/He eat the star apple.
The house of Ana is beautiful.
This one is for Jeffry.
Here are the branches of the Narra tree.
Let him/her go to aunt and uncle. This is from Jasmine.
Is Emma there? Aban work that out.

N.B. Ang mga visayâ nga panal-ot mao’y ginganlan sa dilang english og “particles” nga gibahin sa daghang matang ingon sa “articles, prepositions, conjunctions, interjections, etc.” Sa yanong pagkasaysay, ang mga  panal-ot maó ang mga polong nga dili “sustantivo, adjetivo, verbo ug adverbio”.
 
Take Note: The Visayan particle is what is called also in the English language as particles that is divided to many kinds, like the “articles, prepositions, conjunctions, interjections,  etc.” In a simple explanation the particle are the words that is not a “noun, adjective, verb, and adverb.”

SUSTANTIVO
SUSTANTIVE
 
Ang sustantivo mabahin sa dohá ka matang: ngahn ug polingahn.The noun has two different kinds:
Noun and Pronoun.
 
ANG NGAHN:
THE NOUN:
 
Ang ngahn mabahin pod sa ngahng kaogalingon ug ngahng common. Ang ngahng kaogalingon maó ang tigtog-an sa (a) ngalan og tawo ug (b) sa ngalan og dapit.
Pananglitan:
a) Clarissa L.Alcantara
b) Marangog, Hilongos, Leyte, Philippines


The noun is divided into proper noun and common noun. The proper noun tells: (a) name of a person and (b) name of the place.
Example:
a) Clarissa L. Alcantara
b) Marangog, Hilongos, Leyte, Philippines

 
Ang ngahng common maó ang tigpasabót kon tigtog-an og:
a) tawo, lakip ang iyang kahimtang ug katongdanan;
b) bisan-unsang libroha ug magasin.
c)botáng nga makità ug dimakità may kinabohi o wâ;
d) ug bisan-unsang matang sa sakit

The common noun tells of:
a) person, including his state and profession;
b) every books and magazines
c) things that are seen and not seen with life or without life;
d) every kind of sick.

 
NG POLINGAHN
THE PRONOUN

Ang polingahn mabahin sa: polingahng personal ug impersonal. Ang polingahng personal mao’y ikailis nga polong sa ngahng kaogalingon nga ngalan og tawo ug sa ngahng common nga tigpasabót og tawo. Kinî nga polingahna mabahin pod sa: sujeto, predicadó, adjetivo, possessivo, demonstrative ug relative nga polingahn. Ang polingahng impersonal
mao’y polong nga ikailis sa ngahng kaogalingon nga ngalan og dapit ug sa ngahng common nga dili tigpasabót og tawo.

The pronoun is divided into: pronoun personal and impersonal. The personal pronoun is the one that will change the proper noun word that are the name of personal and common nouns which denotes a person.  This pronoun is divided into: subject, predicate, adjective, possessive, demonstrative and relative pronoun. The impersonal pronoun is the word that will change the proper nouns that are the names of places and common noun which doesn’t denote persons.
 

HAN-AY SA KAGAMITAN SA NGAHN
Arrangement in the Use of a Noun

Ang dilang visayâ adonáy han-ay sa kagamitan sa ngahn nga tombas sa ginganla’g “declension”
sa mga dilang’ latin ug english.

The visayan language have an arrangement in using the noun that is equivalent which is name “declension” in the Latin and English language.

Nominativo : Si Mark Ang tanom
Nominative : He’s Mark The Plants

Genetivo : ni Mark sa/og bolak
Genitive : for Mark of Plants

Dativo : kang Mark sa/og tanom
alang kang Mark alang sa/og tanom
dative : for Mark for the plants

Acusativo : si Mark sa/og tanom kang Mark
Accusative : He’s Mark for the plants For Mark
 
Vocativo : Mark Tanom Oh Mark Oh tanom
Vocative : Mark Plants Oh Mark Oh Plantsz
 
Ablative : ni Mark sa/og tanom
Ablative : of Mark of a plamts

uban ni Mark uban sa/og tanom
With Mark with plants

gikan ni Mark gikan sa/og tanom
From Mark from plants
