Id like to spend a month or 2 there.
Im just concerned about my saftey there.

Just use common sense and listen to (and HEED) the advice your hosts give you, if they are good people they will not let you go where it is not safe... and you should have a great time!

On my first trip to the Philippines and met Bings family I was not allowed to go out on my own. On later trips I just slipped out when nobody was looking, they eventually gave up trying to give me an escort. This was in Lingayen, Pangasinan and it was very safe there.

I only recall one poster(michael16136???) here that spent any time in Zamboanga City and haven\'t seen him post for well over a year now

He split his time between Zambo and Davao and didn\'t consider Zambo particularly dangerous if staying in confines of the city

I\'d love to visit the place but convincing the wife isn\'t going to be easy, she\'s from the northern Bisaya speaking area of Mindanao and they are pretty set in what is and what isn\'t safe places to visit/live on Mindanao especially for a foreigner.It\'s not just anti-muslim apprehension, NPA and other guerilla groups are more active just outside cities on Mindanao

I\'m in Kidapawan, and my wife\'s family won\'t let me go to Zambo, so I won\'t! I recently visited Cotabato City, but with Pinoy friends and only overnight (for a Rotary function). There was a kinapping recently in Zamboanga, wasn\'t there? Anyway, if you want to buy a dodgy import vehicle, or let the Abu\'s know you exist, sure, go there. Me, nah!
