I have been told that the Taxpayer\'s Identification Number (TIN) is not required for foreigners. This may not apply at all LTO\'s, the requirements for Foreigners to have TIN\'s is very confused at the moment.

dutch expat:
When I got my driverslicense 3 years ago they didn\'t ask a Tin number . Last month I had to renew it and they wouldn\'t do it without a Tin number. New rules they said. So I had to go to the BIR to get one and that went very quick.

RUFUS:
I AM NOT A NUMBER...
I AM A FREE MAN...

(RUFUS obscure reference # 37)

My local BIR office refused to give me aTIN, because they said I did not have an income from the Philippines. The International Tax Affairs Division (ITAD) needed it for my application for double taxation relief. ITAD are a part of BIR!!!!! This has been ongoing for almost two months with my local BIR refusing to answer the letters I have written to them at the request if ITAD. Last week ITAD said they would sign my form without the TIN, but I have not receivd it yet, so maybe they have changed their mind. In the past people have had their Double Taxation form signed without a TIN and others have obtained a TIN without the slightest problem. The answer is.......this is the Philippines  ::)
