LTFRB starts calibration of taxis for new fare rate

(1/1)

Okay for you guys and gals who are great in math, how does this work out for overall cost?  ;)

--- Quote ---In October last year, LTFRB approved a new taxi fare rate. The flag down rate is P40 and succeeding rate is P13.50 for every kilometer instead of P3.50 for every 300 meters.  The P3.50 rate for every two minutes of waiting time is no longer in effect but commuters will be charged P2 for every minute of their travel time.

Going by what you say, I come up with under the old rate of 3.50 per 300, that came out to 11.67 per kilometer rather than the new 13.50 per kilometer.  I am guessing the new flag down rate of 40 is higher than the old flag down rate.  So, all around, it will cost you more to take a taxi so you might want to take the jeep.  But, I think they have or are going up too.  You might be better off just hoofing it.

The new fare is adding about p20 to our average trip, just letting you all know, still one of the many big bargains of living in Cebu, I am not aware of rates for other areas, that is why I list Cebu prices.

Lee2:
All I can say is that with the new fare, those meters sure do move up quickly when drivers travel at decent speeds. We came home today from SM Seaside on the SRP and the meter seemed like it was flying, cost an extra p100 going home due to the route and an extra p40 going to Seaside due to a shorter route, still a bargain, it cost us $16 plus tip to go to the airport from our condo in Florida, which is much much closer than Seaside is to our condo in Cebu.

When I was still there, and I was leaving from the airport and going to be gone a longer period of time than I wanted to leave my truck in parking there, I would take a taxi.  One way for 25 miles, less than half an hour.  40 bucks for only the fare.  Well, that was back then so I guess it is higher now.
