Please tell us about Davao, how is it living there?

Our niece recently bought some lots right outside Matina Davao and my wife is thinking about helping our niece build a home with an apartment for us on the property, so I would like to learn more about traffic, living conditions and just about anything members can add about the area, thank you in advance.

Lee, it sounds like an intresting plan  I just this last week had an intresting conversation with my parents who are much older than I.  About building an appartment(guest house or ML atachment) at our home in Leyte.  That way we can would watch out for them for the last of the golden years.  We talked about all the usuall things,  includeing health care.

Would you live there full time or travel back and forth to Florida and or Cebu ?

We would do part time in Cebu and part time in Davao and that way Nila would have a future home with our trusted niece to live in if she so decided once my time comes which I hope is a long way down the road.

Yes indeed I am in Davao.  Matina is very central busy area, lots of shops, banks, etc.  I don't have any experience of housing in that area, sub divisions etc.  As far as I remember there has been some flooding alerts for that area when there has been excessive rainfall for any length of time.
I am still in Dubai at the moment, moving over to Davao full time at the end of the year.  I will make a more detailed investigation and report back.
