Moving over to Metro Manila in December 2010

I will be moving, with my family, to live in the Metro Manila area in December 2010 and will be looking for a possible teaching post. My wife is a Philippine citizen whilst I hold PR status and a UK passport. I have tried to contact the Department of Education (via their website) but all emails are returned as being undelivered and I wonder if anyone has any contact details that I could try?

Other \'career opportunities\' may well be considered and I might well try to find a venue to play \'Vintage Vinyl\' (specialising in 60s and 70s classics) something I am doing over in Singapore at the moment and it is proving very popular. Does anyone know where I can get a list of pubs/clubs (etc) in the Metro Manila area?

Finally if anyone has the contact details of ABS/CBN I would be pleased to hear from you. I would also be happy to hear from any ex-pats who have settled in the country.

Thanks in advance of your (possible) response(s).

I would imagine salaries would be rather off putting in both public and private education. A Brit that I know earned around 40,000 Pesos a month teaching Koreans English in Cebu† He did that for 18 months or so..I also met another Brit doing the same job in Baguio..
I think this would be your best option.

Not a bad idea! So these students learned the Queens English and now have a British accent at no extra charge?† ;D

Welcome to the forum..

Thanks for the responses. If anyone does have any contact details for the Dep\'t of Education and possible music venues it would be appreciated. I have visited Luzon twice - staying about 2 months in total - and know what to expect. It\'s just the job situation that I am trying to sort out. I may even try \'freelance work\' and \'drama workshops\'.

Cheers!
