« on: December 11, 2011, 11:59:14 AM »
in the last two weeks i have made a trip from bohol to cebu to play cards at the waterfront hotel and casino in cebu city.
twice i stayed at Hotel Pier Cuatro...for 1000 php a night..$25....great deal....very clean, friendly staff, buffet breakfast included, air con and strip club across the street if you\'re into that  :o.  for a no frills place this was just perfect for me and my budget...

$25 sounds really good. When I looked on line for the heck of it I saw that the cheapest ones listed were around $100, some even more! I thought that was way too expensive, but figured they were aiming at reeling in ignorant travelers ... like me!

But not anymore! With my new forum comrades I have become armed with knowledge and will stay at reasonable hotels for only $25 which will allow me to blow the other $75 at the casino each day because I cannot gamble for crap!

Seriously though, all the hotels I saw when I searched seemed really high-end and out of my price range. It is nice to know that there are much more resoanable choices out there.

Westernman,

In the Philippines you\'ll find lots of pension houses, similar to bed and breakfast style lodging.  We stayed in two during our most recent trip.  In Cebu we stayed at Fuente Pension House
http://www.fuentepension.com/   There were three adults so we opted for the Suite at 1,850Php ($43).  Great rooftop terrace dining!

While in Baguio we stayed at the AJ Pension House for roughly 1500Php per night, again for three adults.  This one had a full kitchen complete with dishes, glasses, cups, etc.

Almost every city has a group of pension houses from worn out flop houses to top notch modern mini-hotels.  If you decide to try one, ask us if we\'ve been there before.  Many times we\'ll know of a different place just around the corner that\'s 3x better.   ;)

Admin Note:  I added a link to a free language site here earlier today that turned out to be \"not-so\" free.  ;D   I subsequently removed the link, and the new topic I started.  If anyone used the link and discovered as I did, that it\'s not free, don\'t bother to tell me.  I already know.   ;)   :)   :)  GW

Sorry for the interruption, folks...   Nothing to see here....  move along...  pay no attention to the man behind the curtain.

Thanks for the feedback on Pier Quatro.  Maybe next time you can find something closer to the Waterfront.   Last time I was in the Pier Q neighborhood it looked pretty rough.  ie I wouldn\'t be strolling around their after hours.   How did you feel about the location and safety?

Pier Cuatro hotel is certainly not \"close\" by  the Waterfront.  And the dusty road the the hotel is on leaves a lot to be desired.   Its not a road you would want to stroll around after hours.   least I wouldn\'t care to.      I can see Pier Cuatro as great place to go after getting in late on one boat and having an early departure the next.     But if the OP likes it ... Great.
