Malls in Cebu City

 I was talking to someone concerning the new Mall in Cebu city. I want to come back to the PI for a visit. Would you recommend Cebu? I want to stay on the beach but don't want a lot of people and tourists prices. I would be flying in to Guam and then from Agana to Manila or Cebu where ever they would fly in to.  Rick

Rick first of all welcome to the forum.
Cebu is a nice place IMO for healthcare, malls and availability of items etc, we each have different tastes, thus what is good for others may not be what you might like. There are some beaches but because of my health issues I do not go to any as the sun is not my friend, so I hope some others will be able to give you answers to that.

I used to live in Cebu City, have otherwise been visiting regularly since 1994 and will retire there permanently in about 3 years.

So, I will obviously say live in Cebu City.

On it, you will see that Cebu City has the
- 8th biggest mall, SM Seaside
- 24 Biggest mall, SM City Cebu
- 83rd Biggest mall. It says central Bloc but but it should be Ayala Mall

Ayala mall seems to be the most popular with foreigners, mostly because of the Terraces. The Terraces is several levels of indoor and outdoor dining choices, over looking gardens and fountain below.  It also has one of the best money changers in the area, Rustans, in the bottom level of Ayala Mall.

SM is still my favourite. Especially the Imax Theatre on the top level, the huge food court and the fun centre on the bottom level. 

I am still to visit the new seaside mall as I couldn't get the airfare I wanted for a visit to the Philippines and arranged to go on a cruise instead.

If you want to meet up with other expats on a regular basis, you can play ten pin bowling at the Gaisano Metro Bowling Centre on Wednesdays and if you are fit enough, you can walk with the Cebu hash House Harriers on Saturdays

SM Seaside also has a terraces of sorts called Sky Park, not as big as Ayala and all on one floor but instead of it being totally outside, the restaurants are surrounded by glass, I am not sure if I like that because it is warm when walking along that enclosed walk and so far there are not a lot of restaurants in there, but I can see that it will be something pretty good in the future.
