Accessing MySocialSecurity(USA) Site

Art, just a re(tired) Fil-Am:
I finally was able to log on to the mySSA website as before. I'm glad they did away with U.S. cellphone number requirement. The SSA website isn't really that critical IMO that it needs extra security measures. They should just leave it well enough alone as it is. It's bad enough that passwords has to be changed periodically like my other U.S. government websites, which is really is a nuisance. I have other government websites that require changing of passwords every 90 to 180 days and it's a pain in the arse! Sometimes their added security measures answering specific secret questions can also be a hindrance when not answered correctly. So, I try to use the same answers on all of my government websites as to not to forgot them. I'ts a real runaround when I forget my secret security answers, but I just learn to cope with it every 90 to 180 days when new passwords are required to be updated.  ::) :o >:(

I haven't had a beer I don't think since Christmas so you guys can buy me one when you see me.  I emailed SSA a couple of days before the 1st of August and told them that the website would not take an overseas cell phone number as it was only set for 10 numbers and kept rejecting me.  After about a week, they finally replied and did not tell me a damn thing that I did not already know.  They explained why they were doing it and that it was a requirement to provide the extra security, blah, blah, blah.  They quoted the same exact crap I had already read and was not dumb enough to not understand it when I read it.  So, that kind of irked and made me decide to call them up and tell them what I told them in the email plus that it isn't right that we guys living outside of the U.S. have to put up with the chit all the time because they don't research it for a better way.  The U.S. banks don't seem to have any problem with this.  Nah, forget the beer.  I know there were a bunch of other people raising irritated about it who called too so it wasn't just me.

Here is the answer to what the problem with accessing the site was all about.  Cummings who always has all the answers to everything revealed why we were suffering.  It was at the hands of the Republicans.

Rep. Elijah E. Cummings (D-Md.) blamed Republicans for SSAís outdated cyber system, as he noted the 81st anniversary, Aug. 14, of the date President Franklin D. Roosevelt signed the Social Security Act of 1935. It created the program that eventually serves almost all Americans.

Gray Wolf:
Elijah Cummings is the single most ignorant, abusive, racist jackass I've ever seen. Apologies to jackasses, which are strong, hard working animals, unlike the racist jerk from Maryland
 >:( >:( >:(   no /s intended

By the way, I receivd a notice from SS and logged in to check my account. The email I received said Obama wrote another ignorant, uncaring Executive Order demanding the new system. Which explains why it was so screwed up. Of course, they also explained that a newer, better system would have to be worked out, since not everyone could receive an MMS via cell phone. I guess Odumbass was only thinking of "his" people, screw the rest of us.  ::) :-[

I did not even know we could have an ss account online while living Abroad.I was told by ss I could not have an online account from abroad...My question to them was every time I went out to another country to live for awhile I would always need to call them to change my address thats very hard to always worry about so if I could have an online ss account could I then do a change of address online does anyone know..dang I feel like the people at the ss dept dont even know there own Job.or how the system works.anyone can advise me if I can make an online account and do my change of address from there or not?I also always worried about getting my ss tax statement.
