Temperature Differences

I was just chatting with my girlfriend on Messenger and she was saying that she was cold. I checked the weather channel for the temp on Cebu and it was 74f or 25c. I’m sitting here with icicles hanging off of everything and snow and ice all over the ground. The temp here is 25f or -4c. I offered to throw a rock at her.  :P

She is there on Cebu and the year round temp range is only about 15 degrees from high to low. I can’t make her really understand how we can be so much colder here than she is in the winter and still be hotter in the summer. She just can’t see how we can go from 0 to 100 within 6 months and then back to 0 again in 6 more months.  :o

Of course, the only snow she has ever seen is in pictures. I hope I can change that soon. I’d like to see her all bundled up in trying to walk around in winter clothes. She may have to learn how to walk again. But I hope she never gets as cold as I have been at times in my life. I am sure I can provide better boots for her than Uncle Sam did for me.   ;)

The winter temps is one thing I won’t miss when I move there this year. My arthritis don’t like this cold air and I don’t like to upset my arthritis. I’ll be glad next January and February when I can send emails back to my family here and complain about the cold 75 degree days.  :D

I remember the first winter Bing was in the UK (1988) I bought her her first pair of long lined boots. It was such a novelty that she was dancing around in them in the shop. She also enjoyed building snowmen and riding a sledge downhill. A friends wife spent a long time making snowballs and was then in tears because her hands hurt as they thawed out. She also wanted to know why all the trees were dead when she was collected from the airport in Autumn.

Ahhh John, that's cruel man. My ex and I brought her sister over to Sydney (Oz) in Aug/Sept in about 1997. It was the coldest winter in 100 years. The poor bugger had on all the thermal gear we could supply. She had towels wrapped around her neck and head. A heater she huddled over, blasting hot air at her all the time she was out of bed (electricity cost, oh my!!!!). Her bed had an electric blanket on it, and she shivered for almost 3 months.

Needless to say, she survived, and is still happily living in Sydney all these years later.
