Wife and I planning on trip in December (hoping country is open) and will travel with our puppy. Looking at Phil Consulate website re permits vaccinations rfid chip etc but the permits are for importation. We're not importing, just visiting, has anyone recently traveled with their pets US to PI?

Hi Bob,

We've never "traveled" with an aso.  So I can't help you there.  But years ago when we made the move to Samoa, and later from SMO to RP we had to give up our animals.

Tough decision that made everyone feel bad.  Dogs included.

After a lot of study .... both times .....  We concluded it just was not fair to the dog.

Stateside puppy would be hard pressed to survive here.  Aso ng calle are way too tough survivors.

Then you got the whole adobo dog thing.  Over the years we suspect that our neighbor's have polutan'ed two of our animals.

You can't really monitor and protect them 24/7/365.   Dogs will be dogs.

For a vacation ..... I just don't know.  May be more humane to long term kennel with a trusted place.

Hope this helps.

OMG!! For 6 weeks, my wife will keep track of our puppy. I stay 3. We can board her with friends here, but we don't want to be away from our baby. Still, the 24 hour travel is horrible for people, and if she can't ride in the cabin, I don't think she can make it at all. Must do a lot of research, I think friends here may have taken their pets with them. Thanks for your reply. :)

Bob.

You may have no option but to leave your pooch behind. By taking it to the Philippines, you may not be allowed to bring it back.

See < tinyurl.com/5uvk82xk  > for the current (June 14, 2021) CDC regulations.

Stay safe all.

We have used commercial boarding kennels a few times in the past due to employment obligations and long distance from family but I do not recommend them as they are very stressful for some pets and extremely overpriced.
So...I would board her with friends if you really need to go!
