FILIPINO boxing champ and Senator Manny Pacquiao returned to the ring Sunday, November 6, (Philippine time) to challenge Mexican-American boxer and WBO welterweight champion Jessie Vargas.
The fight is ongoing at the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Below are the round-by-round updates:
Round 1: Vargas trying to maintain distance. Manny wants to close the gap. Good close first round; gave it to Pacquiao.
Round 2: Vargas looked sharp early but Pacquiao drops him late in the round with sharp accurate left. 10-8 for Pacquiao.
Round 3: Pacquiao boxing Vargas' ears off in the third. Looks like he's having fun in there!
Round 4: Pacquiao lands several straight lefts. Vargas scores with right hands. Still a Pacquiao round though.
Round 5: Pacquiao boxes beautifully but a game Vargas lands some right hands. Maybe his best round so far.
Round 6: Vargas looks sharp with jab-straight rights; wins round.
Round 7: Tough round to score but gave it to Pacquiao. If Vargas won 5 and 6, we could have a close one.
Round 8: Vargas early but Manny flurries often and bloodies Vargas. Another Pacman round.
Round 9: Pacquiao dominates early. Vargas battles back but Pacquiao finishes strong.
Round 10: Cutman doing a good job on Vargas cut. Vargas eating a lot of Pacquiao's punches early. Pacquiao finishes strong, wins round.
Round 11: Pacquiao wobbles Vargas early. Vargas getting wild with his punches. Pacquiao darts in and out. Vargas looks tired.
Round 12: Boxing clinic dished out by Pacquiao in the 12th. Should be a UD for Pacquiao who won at least 9 of the 12 rounds on our card.

Lee,
I was lucky enough to stay awake here in Europe and watch it. It was a very good fight. Disappointed in the apparent lack of sportsmanship or courtesy by Floyd when they tried to ask him questions about the fight before and after. Manny definitely does not look like a 37 year old boxer. Speed and accuracy led him to an easy win in my opinion.

Tony
