Day/Overnight Trip to Baler, Aurora
« on: September 16, 2016, 01:48:57 AM »
Hey all,

When we come for our annual visit, we plan to do a little traveling around the island (Luzon) to see new relatives and see some new and old sites. I have a new nephew from Baler, Aurora who has invited us up for a day or two to see the beaches and drink a few cold ones. Has anyone been to the area before? Any recommendations?

My nephew is the city engineer for Baler, so I'm sure he has some good suggestions for eating, and I know there are some good beaches, especially for surfing, which might be good considering the time of year we'll be visiting (Oct-Nov)
But if anyone has any specific suggestions for "must see" spots, please feel free to speak up.

Salamat!  :)

Hey Ray!

Baler is the town in Aurora Province. Right on the beach. It's known for some of the best surfing in the Philippines because of the cove facing the prevailing ocean breeze and ocean currents. There are quite a few beach resorts catering to the locals and visiting beach and surf crowd. I hear Bayler-View is a good place. My nephew lives there and has shared some pics with me on social media. It's a nice looking beach resort. Wish I could offer more, but I didn't get to visit as planned due to typhoons and time restrictions

If I go up there and happen to stay at the named resort, the room will be a difficult and complicated choice.  Which room would I want? The Ocean View, the Bay View, or the Pacific View?

I love visiting Baguio. Lots of things to do and see. Good food, too!

Bud, it sounds like you’re having me on.   I usually settle for the garden view. Cheers  :)

Well, they sure have a lot of reviews on Trip Advisor and all the ones I read were good.  Too many for me to look at them all though.  Going to have to give it serious consideration when I go that way.

Just stay one of two nights in each, that way you get to see them all.  ;) Of course if there is one that is more expensive then it will likely be the one they and their customers likely consider to be the best view.

The most generous checkout time I’ve ever seen 12 noon. Likely to try it.
