I know this is a dated thread, but still thought I would share my experiences.
I come from a state that has State taxes in income and dividends and all the above.
When I first moved overseas, still working for a US company, I initiated the company to discontinue the removal of my state income taxes. Since then, I have not paid income taxes to the state, including what little dividends I get on my savings account, that is still based in my home state. I still have an address in the state, my brother\'s, and still carry that state\'s driver\'s license.
I think, if you don\'t live there, no need to pay tax....unless maybe if you keep a house back there and have rental income or something like that.
