Single guy renting..advice please
jimjoe:
Hello,
am after some advice please.
Am considering to move to Cebu city early next year. NOT Manila.
Will be single and am not flash, just like it simple.
Am looking for advice on a place to rent, for example a simple studio apartment.
Just need the basics, bathroom with shower and toilet, kitchen / cooking area, sleeping area and area for eating and watching TV now and again.
Furnished preferably but advice on unfurnished welcome.
Also, will consider places like Bohol and Leyte if not too typhoon hazard areas.
Any suggestions with prices and location? Thanks in advance

That is a good question. So many ways to answer it. Maybe tell a bit more about your goals and reasons for picking the Philippines.
One idea is to pick the city you want to look into, and then go and rent a hotel room for some time and look around to see if you like the place. If not try a different city, as the hotel can be just day to day or week to week.

Agree with FastWalk. In some cities, there are Airbnbs. These maybe less expensive than hotels.

I echo fastwalks advice wholeheartedly. Eyes on is the best approach/advice. We all have our own preferences, likes and dislikes. To include area, accommodations, amenities etc. I live in Tagaytay and would choose no other place in the Philippines to live (given I have not been close to everywhere :) )
Others probably feel the same about their living arrangements. It is cheap enough to come and look around before deciding on where to settle.
