"In the presidential debates for the 2016 elections, Rodrigo Duterte promised that he would ride out on a jet ski and plant the Philippine flag on the Spratly Islands or Scarborough Shoal to assert Philippine sovereignty over any Chinese encroachment. :)

Yes agreed .. for we non-natives as you write MS, it's better for us to remain respectfully quiet on matters regarding Chinese and Philippine international relationships .. and for the wonderfully warm and gentle nature of the Philippine people deal with issues in their own way. For example, here's certainly one of the best fist-fighters in the world responding diplomatically to a current event.

Seems a pure class act ..
