Gray Wolf:
We have our E-tickets! Sorry I didn't inform everyone sooner, but I've been plagued with computer issues for a week. I got my new Asus laptop yesterday and so far it's been smooth sailing.
Wheels up on November 27 with a return flight on January 8th, 2014. We didn't get the price we originally were quoted, but it was close enough. Round trip with Korean Air, $1466. We fly out of Louisville, via American Airlines to Dallas-Fort Worth, then hop on Korean Air for our flight to Seoul and change planes for the final leg to Manila, arriving at 10:15PM.
The Korean Air legs of the trip will be aboard a Being 777-200 for the long flight, then a Boeing 777-300 for the Seoul/Manila leg. Both of these airframes are new and have the latest ergonomically designed seats with interactive screens for each passenger. I will be able to choose from about 40 movies that I can watch when I choose. No "big screen" movies with other people's heads in the way. :)
I'm looking forward to interacting with the lovely Korean flight attendants. I'll try to get a photo of me with a couple of them sometime during our flight that I can share with the group.
When we first arrive in Manila we'll spend the night in one of the hotels and then head out to the family abode the next morning after a shower and a good night's sleep in air/con. Then we'll be off to Novaliches to settle in with the family.
I will arrange a day or two when I can go to the SM Fairview mall and meet up with some of you guys who live locally. I will also put together a trip to Cebu for a couple of days and will meet some of you there at Mooons Cafe. I don't have a date for any of these meetings yet, so we'll play that by ear when the time comes. I have several places to visit while in country, including a trip to Buguey and the family farm there in the Cagayan Valley. All of our side trips will depend on weather conditions and money. If both hold out, I'll be hopping all around the islands and hope to see some of you when I venture close to your home turf.

Good on you Jack! You and good lady Glo sound all organized for a wonderful trip fella. And you have a new computer also. It's all happening fella! Btw we bought an ASUS laptop a month or so ago also. Ours is a mid-range K52F with a 15.8" HD-LED screen and an excellent built-in Altec Lansing SRS sound system. If yours performs anything like ours has so far, it's certain you'll be happy with your choice Jack. Asus apparently come with an extensive 12 month warranty so seem confident in the quality of their products. But, in our experience, Asus has tended to load the machine up with all sorts of additional third-party software, but it's been easy enough to delete most of the more useless examples of this additional 'bonus' software quite readily. Haha.
Anyway, fella .. sure, there's plenty of time before you hit the sunny shores of the Phils, but I know we Palawan crew here won't forgive you if you two don't get yourselves over to this island while you're in the Phils again this time around mate. Don't listen to that Mindanao crowd. Just because they grow the best coffee beans available anywhere, well, so what? You wait till you try our fresh cashews, and also regarding a good feed, 80% of Manila's seafood comes from our pristine waters, if the Chinese don't end up poaching it all. So, don't forget our pretty little island in your travels Jack, you hear? :D
Cheers Jack & Glo

Gray Wolf:
Thanks Stephen! I got the ASUS K55A model with 15.6 inch HD LED screen. Mine came with an assortment of extra software too, much of which has already been uninstalled, especially the McAfee AV program. Yuck! :P
There has been some talk of a family outing to Palawan, but I have no details yet. But rest assured that if we do come that way I'll let you guys know so we can meet up in town for some tucker and cold drinks. :)
