Single guy renting..advice please
jimjoe:
Ok...not getting very far with this..
will say again..
definitley will be Cebu city as visited before and feel comfortable there...not like the hell hole Manila.
So, looking for a place to rent, for example a simple studio apartment.
Just need the basics, bathroom with shower and toilet, kitchen / cooking area, sleeping area and area for eating and watching TV now and again.
Furnished preferably but advice on unfurnished welcome.
And a price range.
Thanks
If no one has any 'knowledge' of places, etc is there any agents that can go to with rentals and if so where do they advertise? Thanks

Hi,
As well as doing what the others have suggested, that is to go there, and seek what you want/need, there are also a myriad of rental web sites catering to the Philippines, both short term and long term. Just do a search for them and you will get a general idea of what is available.
I have a few bookmarked, from several years ago, so if you want them send me a note.
If your budget is limited then you will definitely have to find a local person to help you to get a desirable location without having the price jacked up when the owner sees that you are not Pinoy ;)
Good luck in your search.

You can Google search all you want it is not hard! It appears the info provided does not fit your request. Not very many members are in the real estate business . Trying to find exactly what want via the internet can be a big problem in the long run. As recommended by others it is best to get here and look for what you actually want. Many sites are available to find short term accommodation while you look for permanent residence.

Thanks to Thomas and Chuck for your replies.
I do have a place to stay whilst looking..that is sorted.
Chuck, I was just after 'in house knowledge' from locals with experience and any recommendations to cut down my search time.
Thomas, if you can send me your bookmarked info that will be good, thanks.
Cheers

You must have realised by now that not everyone shares the same opinion of places. Your reference to Manila as a hell hole, testifies to this, as some actually like it there. When I first visited Philippines Cebu was strongly recommended. I hated it, the worst place in the country in my opinion. Nobody can give you a realistic guide to where to look. If you have somewhere sorted to stay, then boots on the ground is by far and away the best approach.
