I talked to a Xoom rep a couple years ago and she informed me I could probably get away with sending myself money for a year or so but eventually they would cut me off due to money laundering laws.  I've heard of people using them for several years and I've also heard of those being cut off like what I just mentioned.  I'm planning on just staying here in the US but a couple of years ago I was planning on giving the Philippines another try on retirement.  I was gonna open up a Wise account also but I went ahead an opened up a Charles Schwab brokerage account linking it to my Schwab checking account due to the Schwab ATM features of reimbursement of all ATM fees at the end of the month. I also have Navy Federal Credit Union.

Thanks Chuck. That's the info I need. My niece has been picking up our Xoom transfers for the last year since she got a job. It's easier for her to pick up on her way home from work. But I do believe she has a bank account since her paychecks are direct deposit. Maybe I'll give Wise transfer a shot just to see which is easier for them. Thanks for everyone's input!

Just got a text day before yesterday that Remitly was going up from $3.99 to $4.99 on their transfer fees. I'm not sure if it's with express service only or not.
