So far I have concentrated on balcony / terrace gardening for condo dwellers.  If you have a house and lot, you have more options.

Here is a quick and dirty grow house that is cheap, can be built in a day, disassembled for storms, and stored in boxes when not in use.

We cover ours with mosquito netting.  We keep some sheeting handy to cover up during monsoon season.

I have tried Kratky hydroponics.  It works but be very careful. 

You need a large volume of water to offset the heat, and it is a natural breeding area for mosquito's.  Cover everything with netting and check it often.
