If multiculturism doesn't work, what are we doing here?

I know of no multiculturalism going on in the Philippines.  We live and work within the laws of the Philippines.  There are many people from different countries and cultures living and working in the RP, but there are no foreign communities operating under their own laws and cultures.

Can you give us an example of what you consider multiculturalism in the Philippines?

Technically you are correct but there are Phl laws that apply only to certain groups of people in the Phl.
For example, the "Code of Muslim Personal Laws of the Philippines" only applies to Muslims.  An example from the "Code of Muslim Personal Laws of the Philippines" allows two Muslims to divorce in the Phl but the Civil Code of the Phl does not allow others to divorce in the Phl.

Killjoygreg:
I'm not into technicalities but I don't think multiculturism has given anybody the right to break the law in any country. If their culture doesn't impact on their new country in a bad way then who cares. I am not and don't  pretend to be a Filipino just because I have residence. I still live mostly to my Australian culture and so far have had nobody complain. I would never offend the Filipino way but it isn't always my way.

From memory there about 200,000 Filipinos recorded as converting to Islam.. Some do it as they are told that their families were from Muslim stock long before the Spanish arrived and consider themselves "Balik Islamists".. Robin Padilla is one of the most famous from that group..
Believe it or not..Many Filipino`s convert to Islam because it gives them better work prospects in Saudi Arabia!
