Obtaining UK Passport From Overseas
« on: June 24, 2011, 10:04:47 AM »
I just found out from the British Embassy Manila newsletter that there are big changes in the system of obtaining a UK passport for overseas residents. Maybe this is common knowledge but for anyone else who has lost touch, I\'d like to share this.

First change is, you can no longer get a normal 10 year passport from Manila, you have to apply to the regional office in Hong Kong.

For those who are waiting to receive their new passport, Manila can issue an emergency travel document. It\'s not cheap though, >90 UK pounds.

Eventually the regional offices will be closed, and all passport applications will have to be made directly to UK. No date for this yet, probably in the next couple of years.
