Edward Mercado Mabunga
July 5, 1945 ~ Oct. 20, 2013
Edward Mercado Mabunga, 68, passed peacefully at his home on Sunday,
October 20, 2013. He was survived by his loving wife Lorna and 2 sons Jeremy and
Rhandie. He was a proud grandfather of 10 grandkids, Alex, Autumn, Erik,
Hunter, Colton, Dillon, Tabitha, Alianndra, Jaycee and Amaya. He was preceded
in death by his 4 brothers and 5 sisters.
Eddie "Boy" was born and raised in the Philippines by the late Moises Sr.
and Vicenta Mabunga. He attended BYU Hawaii in 1973 for 2 years then moved
to Utah and attended the LDS Business College in Salt Lake City. Due to a
rare condition, he became blind. This did not stop him from living his life
to the fullest. His self reliance motivated him to establish his own
business, Mabunga Travel, where he helped many customers travel to and from the
Philippines. Edward was active and was well-known in the Filipino community
in which he was recognized and awarded the Governor' s Award in 2003 for his
contributions. He is known for having a great sense of humor and he loved
his family immeasurably.
A viewing will be held on Friday, Oct. 21 from 6:00-8:00pm at the Valley
View Funeral Home, 4335 W 4100 S, West Valley City. The funeral will be held
on Saturday, October 22 at 11:00am at the Hunter 11th Ward chapel, 5065 W
Janette Ave. West Valley City, right after the viewing from 9:30am that
