Living in The Philippines > Lodging: Finding A Place to Stay "for a while"
Finally a visit to Palawan
jcole4455:
;D Ok, after many trips to PI over the last 30 years My family and I are finally going to spend three days on Palawan. Underground river is a must. Looking for suggestions on where to stay and what to do. My son is interested in anything involving nature. We will be flying in from Cebu, most likely on a sunday and departing on thurs back to Cebu. This will happen the later part of May. Please any recommendations will be helpful. I am assuming the travel around the island is by trikes and jeepneys. Looking for any and all intel.
Thanks
Jerry

If your son likes nature, a snorkeling adventure in Honda Bay is an absolute must-do. Take an island-hopping banka trip around the bay and be prepared to be amazed! Snake Island would be my first stop on the trip. Don\'t forget your camera! ;) :) :)

Thanks Jack for the quick reply. Honda bay is on the short list. Been reading some of Colin\'s posts as well. Thinking pretty hard about making the Badjao Inn the home office for 3 days. Is it better to contract one of the tours or simply wing it? Me the Asawa and two of my sons, all grown. We will be in PI for almost a month, mostly in Maasin.

When Colin logs in he can probably give you a more exact answer, but I believe you will find several boating outfits that do island tours once you are there in Puerto Princesa. Don\'t bother to try to set up something via the internet for a tour. Once you\'re there you can compare prices easily. About the only thing I plan ahead is for airline tickets. ;D
If I\'m not mistaken a visit to Snake Island is free unless you use one of the cottages. The other islands charge a fee per person (Php25 - Php70 ea) So take your time, decide how many islands you want to visit versus how much time you want to spend snorkeling. It\'s a big bay and trying to see it all means you\'ll spend precious little time snorkeling. I\'d try to visit no more then 3 islands.

Thanks Jack, that is what I was thinking as well. Can\'t wait until May.
