Title: Ozamiz City group
Post by: belikewater on March 22, 2011, 06:44:39 AM

Medical mission development team in a small tribal village outside of Ozamiz City.  This group provides assistance to many of the small villages in the area.

Bless them!

Good group!  My niece performed a similar style of mission after graduating from University.

She had her RN diploma but little experience and no real prospects for a job with a hospital.  She found a group of young doctors who were going to travel to the Bicol region during the aftermath of some volcanic activity.  They lived within the refugee community treating the elderly, injured and sick for no pay.  All the supplies for their medical work were donated.  But during this month-long mission she gained practical experience that helped to land her a job with Philippine General Hospital in Manila.

Kaawaan ka ng Diyos to those who volunteer their time for such service!

It used to be pretty much obligatory for newly trained nurses to work voluntarily for a year to gain experience after qualifying. Nobody was interested in employing them with no experience.

Our niece was lucky and scored a job for 2000 pesos a month straight out of nursing school. She is still at the same hospital, but now earns 8000 a month, nearly ten years later......

And they wonder why they lose nurses overseas.
