Has anyone had experience of fitting ridge vents to metal roofing? My engineer has suggested that they could spoil the look of the house and let in rain. Comfort is more important to me than appearance, but I can\'t see that raising the ridge cap slightly should cause too many problems. All comments would be welcomed.

Ridge vents could allow water in at high wind speeds.
Here are some vents approved for hurricane winds/rain in Florida.
Kinda ugly, but effective in both ventilation and weather resistance.
They make 4\"-24\" vents. The smaller ones may not be as obtrusive as the larger ones.
