Baragatan 2009

Every year Puerto Princesa hold the Baragatan Festival which lasts the whole month of June with various activities. Today was the street dancing contest and I did not realize just how many people live here, the whole area and surrounding streets were packed and you could hardly move at times. The politicians and dignitaries gave their usual long winded speeches, which stalled the whole procedure and some of the groups had to wait outside the Capitol grounds because nothing could move.

Here are a few of the photographs I took.

The Girls

And the Guys

Some of these needed a new paint job

It wasn’t really that cold

I imagine they could play the blues

Are they from Mars or Venus?

A bad hair day

A feather in their cap

Hope I can visit Palawan soon.. It\'s interesting to witness their festivals. They\'re so colorful!

I did not watch the street parade this year having seen it several times before, and it was very hot.

Here are a few photos taken during the one month display in the Capitol grounds.

A few of the many stalls selling souvenirs from all over Palawan

Lots of carvings (the quality is not good, my external flash decided not to work on this one and I had to drag the details from out of the shadows)

Some of the people here on just one of the quiet days.

Colin,

Really enjoyed the pics... and your comments --

-- Sorry, just couldn\'t resist a couple of my own, hope you don\'t mind.

Really cute Girls... too bad the girls in the dance clubs in Big D do not look like this.

Wow... some more really cute Gi.... wait a minute... let me zoom in... uhh... some really handsome Guys (too bad the guys in the dance clubs in Big D do look like this.)

The back-up singers for the Blue Man Group truly deserved the 1st Place Award they won for best costumes.

Getting to hear Diana Ross and The Supremes do \"Baby Love\" was the highlight of the day.

Tooooooo cute for words...... I\'m speechless.

OK -- so my tags lines are a little cheesy... so some of you witty folks try your hand at it.  ;D

All right, all right, Captainron... hold it right there --- Did you have this photo posed this way to suggest that your niece inherited her attractive looks from your side of the family ?  ;D
