Boat Trip on Taal lake
« on: June 03, 2011, 03:56:47 PM »
Took a short boat ride on Taal Lake last month, but couldn\'t climb the volcano because of the activity alert level. At least we had good views of the fish farms. :)

I went there in early May Chuck. The fishkill was weeks later. I don\'t think I was the cause. :)

Thanks Gray Wolf. I did the zip line last year, but didn\'t take a boat trip that time. I still need to go there once more, when it is allowable to climb the volcano.

Ha ha for more evidence I could also point to the deposits on my car roof after parking in manila for a couple of hours. :)

Richard,

It looks like a pretty nice boat ride!  Did you circle the Lake or just go to volcano island and back?  I ask because this is definitely one of the places we\'ll take my Mom for a day trip while visiting in September-October this year.

And I gotta do the zip lines!   I\'ll post those pics/videos later this year.   ;)   ;D

Hi Gray Wolf. The 2 options we were offered were (i) Sail across to the volcano island, walk around near the water for a short while, then sail back again; and (ii) Sail across to the volcano island, trek up the volcano to the rim and then return. The second option was not fully available due to the volcanic activity alert level at that time, so we decided just to take the boat trip and maybe take the second tour sometime in the future.

We were not offered an option to circle the lake, but I am sure you could negotiate a price for that if you wanted.

Thanks Richard!  We\'ll probably have at least 6 - 8 people with us, so it\'ll be a boat full.  We\'ll see what the weather is like and if Taal is still rumblin\'.  I can always negotiate a deal based on local conditions.  I\'ve never been turned down yet.  They\'d rather go the extra step and make a little more money.

Nice videos you have in your collection!  You should definitely do more.  They\'re awesome!
Thanks for sharing!   :)
