Different options for ceilings

Try hardiflex, it looks like asbestos and I believe it is termite proof. Bing did not want it because of all the scares that have been around about asbestos. We just use plain untreated plywood and in two years just have had some very minor problems with bok-bok that were in the already in the panels. We had the foundations of the house and the surrounding area sprayed by Mapicon, which cost us P54k with a 3 year warranty. They check for any problems at least once a year. When we first saw a few holes caused by bok-bok, we took out a one year contract costing P12k. They injected the holes several times when we called them out, and that seems to have solved the problem.

We have some friend that also had problems with termites in their bedroom ceiling, but they had tried to save money by just spraying the ground themselves.

James Hardie Hardiflex (originally called Fibro Cement Sheets) were manufactured in 1945 to 1980 in Australia and contained Asbestos which resulted in payouts to workers who contracted Asbestois and Mesothelioma, it was banned by the Australian Goverment in 1989, a lot of workers who worked at James Hardie have either died or suffering the effects from Asbestois and Mesothelioma,although James Hardie relocated from Australia to another country (not sure what country) they now produce Hardiflex.

OMG thanks for telling me this now I need to start all over on what I already decided to use for the panels USG tiles where my next guess but when they get wet not good

USG boards are OK if you know for sure you don't have any leaks from your roof!

It's more of an occupational hazard at a Pinoy's unskilled, ill equipped labor's stand point who works with the material due to the dust particles when the hardiflex panels are being cut and not of a home owner's safety hazard, once they're cut, installed and painted! At least the panels are fire proof!
Besides, USG boards are heavy when they get saturated with water and they will surly come crashing down on you!

your probably rite Art but I do remember the US ARMY taking it out of the old world war 2 Barracks at Fort Jackson I think it was about year 1983 my roof is steal sheets but you never know when you will get a leak.maybe just buy extra but my problem living here is wilcon sells them but I cant find  the installer for them.its quite hard to find workers here to do anything.

Those materials back in the early 1980s were more of a soft absorbent type of material with no cement mixed in to bond the asbestos together not like the hardiflex panels made today, which are light, thin, hard and mixed with cement!

According to what I have read from a few sources on the internet, Hardiflex contains zero asbestos.

HardieFlex® Fiber Cement Board has no Asbestos and no Chrysotile fibers.

Note: This product does not contain asbestos or asbestiform fragments. Cellulose comes from wood pulp.

Another good material for ceilings and walls here is gypsum board.. Gypsum screws, reinforced mesh tape and filler are all available here.
