Peso hits 45 to 1 US dollar
« on: January 15, 2014, 06:05:40 PM »
I just checked the exchange rate online and was happy to see it has now hit 45 to $1, hope it continues in the same direction for us.

Good news also for us from the UK, the rate being 73.8 to £1. Last March it was down to 60.5 to £1.

I have no idea why the rates are so good for us, but long may it continue.

But in case it doesn't I have just sent some money to our bank account in the Philippines ready for us during our trip later this year.

Peso weakens as remittances from overseas workers surge http://tinyurl.com/l5nftzt
The peso, the country's local currency, has weakened to a three-year low on Wednesday as dollar remittances from overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) surged to an all-time high in November last year.

Yahoo shows it at 45.16 to $1 US  http://tinyurl.com/osarw7c

I am happy other expat currency exchange rates seem to also be gaining. :D

Yeah, I already converted most of my dollars I can spare to last us a few months!  :)

I too exchanged most of my dollars, but the swing in rates is a two-edged sword.

It cuts good for us, but it not so good for the Filipinos living here.  :(

The thing is, it makes no sense for the peso to devalue this much vs the USD.  With all the USD printing, and the economic depression in the US.

The Phil's economy is doing pretty good. Here in Antipolo we have more cranes than stoplights.

The amount of traffic that passes my shop is as much if not more than for example I465 in Indianapolis.
