Did you know?
« on: October 08, 2014, 11:47:55 PM »
Just wondering how many here are aware that if you live in with a woman here thats already married, you can be charged?  I thought it was here already but could not find it.

A lot of guys go to the Philippines and end up in relationships with married women, never keeping in mind the possible consequences. For those men who do it and know the possible consequences and still decide to go into those relationships, then more power to them and I hope that the husbands never charge them, but for the ones who have no idea, they could end up in deep poooo but again I hope the husbands never charge them.

What are the differences between adultery and concubinage?

Adultery is committed by a wife (who must also be charged together with the other man), while concubinage is committed by a husband (who must be charged together with the concubine).
Proof of sexual intercourse is enough in adultery, but in concubinage, the prosecution must prove that the sexual intercourse must be under scandalous circumstances, or that the husband kept a mistress in the conjugal dwelling or cohabited with her in any other place.
The penalty for concubinage is lower than that of adultery. The penalty for the concubine is only destierro, while the penalty for the man other in adultery is the same as that of the guilty wife.

What is adultery?
Adultery means the carnal relation between a married woman and a man who is not her husband, the latter knowing her to be married, even if the marriage be subsequently declared void (RPC, Article 333). Each sexual intercourse constitutes a crime of adultery.

:) Happily married since 1994 & live part of the year in Cebu and the rest in S. Florida.

Both the man and the adulterous woman must be charged by the complainant and locked up on remand together..
From memory they usually get about 5 years.

Somewhere I knew this, there was a "locked up abroad" tv show about a Brit this happened to.  But when I was scanning the news and saw this bit of news, I thought it could not hurt to post it as you never know who it might help.

This very thing happened to an acquaintance now living in Bicol. The husband threatened to press charges, but actually it was just a scam to get money; which this guy paid. They then moved from La Union to Bicol. Unless real jealousy is involved, I am willing to bet the pay off is what most are looking for. Unless it's a jilted girlfriend-- and then hell hath no fury as a woman scorned.

Another relic of religious bigotry juxtaposed with 'so-called law' and ignorance.
