Private PI elementry schools with US affiliation ?
« on: April 06, 2015, 09:15:41 AM »
Are there any private elementry schools in MM area that would have a "connection" to US schools ?  Most likely would be some sort of catholic / jesuit school ?

The International School Manila in Makati has a U.S. based curriculum.  I only know this because a colleague's children went there.  It costs a little over $10,000 per year.  I'm guessing mostly ex-pat's children where their company pays the tuition.

International schools usually state any affiliations. Some local schools are also part of IB programs, and these are usually stated in their websites.

Just to let you know MotorSarge, there are a LOT of filipino families than you probably realize, that can and do afford that tuition.    Small sample size, but just for example, I am the only ex pat in this subdivision (all the others are filipinos), and I would venture to guess I am the poorest resident here.  All the people I golf with have enough money to cover that tuition etc..   There are a lot of wealthy people in this country.

Yeah I think the house across the street(maybe another one) from you is for sale for Php 18M.  Probably not the most expensive in the subdivision.

Hopefully I'll have my chance to see some of all of this in about 6 weeks.
I plan on spending at least 4-6 days in Baguio.

I agree completely JJ.  It's similar situation on our high end subdivision, which happens to be a very fine golf course.  Our house is one of the more modest and we only have 2 cars.  Vast majority of the home owners here are rich Filipinos. The notion that Filipinos are all poor and lucky if they earn P30K a month is totally false.

Haha, I'm sure you'd enjoy your golf here, but I don't play so sorry I can't invite you.  ;D

"Golf is a good walk spoiled"

Mark Twain? Maybe, the jury's still out on that.

Or, as one early 20th Century comedian described it, "You hit a ball as far as you can. If you find it the same day, you've won!!!"  :) :) :) :)

Not enough what?
A round of golf here isn't so expensive.  I'd have to check to be 100% certain, but as I remember it's around P1,000 a round.
