South Korea allows Filipinos visa-free entry for Winter Olympics

For those of you married to or living with a Philippine citizen, this might be a nice trip to take, we stop in South Korea each year on our way over to Cebu and their airport is really nice, I can only imagine how nice the country must be to see, maybe one day the wife and I will have to make our stop over for days instead of just hours.

South Korea will allow Filipinos visa-free entry until April next year, if they arrive through its airport near the venue of the 2018 Winter Olympics, the official Yonhap news agency said.
Aside from the Philippines, South Korea also gave Indonesia and Vietnam visa-free privileges as long as they enter through YangYang airport near Pyeongchang, which is hosting the quadrennial games, Yonhap said.

Agree, South Korea is a really nice place to visit.  Food, weather in autumn, and people.  Plus, it isn’t as expensive compared to other countries.  From what I’ve read, visa free is only to Yangyang airport.  So I’m not sure which airline fly to that airport.  The usual flies from Manila to Incheon (Seoul) and Busan.

I don't know about this deal but you have to watch some of this stuff close.  My wife sometimes gets deals that have either good prices or no cost.  She wants to take me all the time to places and had one about two weeks ago that she was showing me.  It was free tours over a 3 day period but you had to pay plane fare.  Well, without plane fare is ok.  That is what was they said up front.  The only problem was , when you got deeper into it you found the tours were free if you had to have a Philippine passport only.  I have seen stuff a lot that she gets which have a special price but a poor foreigner in most instances is either a no go, pays full regular price, or has a nice surcharge added in.  They will cater to rich Filipinos with the deal though.  As far as South Korea, she just went November last year again.  And even though it is not that expensive a country, you can bet that during the Olympics, the costs will be to accommodate the Olympic crowd.

Edit:  Of course with a US passport on this, no need to worry about the cost of a visa.  And I am sure there are other countries with a passport that will work.  But not all.

maybe off topic;    when we go through South Korea we found that they have a free tour from the airport.  visited some old style temple and some other stuff in town.   It was a nice way to spend the lay over.  But that was Incheon.   The tour was nice,  ended up at some local Korea eatery and then back o the airport.  Just ask any of the workers at the airport they can point you to it.  Free is a great deal.

I think it was about 3 hours,  shuttle from the front door of the airport and back again included.  They also had a longer one that would go further away.
