I would but I unloaded my golf clubs when I left the states.  They were just a cheap set as it was since back in the early 90s, I decided to give it a shot.  I worked on base and use to go by the golf course all the time for almost the prior 20 years and I would go to the snack bar at lunch time or after work a lot.  I failed miserably at it though and was not able to maintain an interest in it after trying for about 4 years.  Actually, I am glad I did not continue on.  I am not going to live a poor man's life here but I sure am not going to pluck down pesos for golf.  So, sorry, I am out of the question.

I'm in the Iloilo area and occasionally play here, and just moved last year.  I have been bitten with the Golf bug about 3 years ago, unfortunately golf is a little more expensive here than in the states.  First thing I brought with me are my clubs. 

Empire Golf here in the PI is pretty well stocked and its the proshop in most courses here. The only thing when it comes to apparel.  They may have not sizes for us big people..

Green fees are expensive unless you have a membership to a club.  I'm saving up and planning to join the Iloilo Golf and Country club hopefully in the next two months.

For foreigners its 110,000 pesos and for natives 75,000, the good thing is your Asawa can join and play under her membership.  I have been informed that also there is reciprocity in privileges with country clubs throughout PI.  For example, once I join I can play the courses in Bacolod.

One thing here in Iloilo CC and I'm pretty sure everywhere else is that you usually have to have a caddie with you (450 pesos), with or without a cart.  and you may request an umbrella girl (150 pesos) as well.

Even if I was playing, I sure am not going to hire an umbrella girl.  Would get busted for sexism.  Oh, wait a minute.  Should not be any worry here.  That would be in the states and some of those EU countries.

I have a very good friend that plays in Iloilo about 4 times a week, as a matter of fact, I flew to iloilo to pick up a set of golf clubs he gave me.   He is a member there, I will ask him how much he paid (the course near the airport?).   As far as cost, the golf course I go to in Tagaytay is MUCH cheaper than it would be in the USA and the caddie is 150 pesos.   Maybe its more expensive there because of the historic significance of that golf course?    The driving range I used in iloilo was 50 pesos for a bucket of balls, that did not really break the bank.

Chuck, I read your post, you must have been a serious golfer.  A 2 handicap is fricken awesome.   My goals are not near that high, I just want to get good enough to where I am enjoying myself and kind of know what I am doing.    Right now the course we play at is a 9 hole course, I have not yet graduated up to an 18 hole course yet (skill and confidence).  The eagleridge course is only like 20 minutes from my house.  If you join, I would LOVE to be your guest a time or two

I carried a N. Calif 2 handicap just to be competitive with the guys that padded their handicaps.  May best score while still in HS was a 63 on the par 70 San Jose CC.  I went to San Jose State on a Football and golf scholarship.  Worked golf courses from 1997 til 2010 in Florida til I moved here.  Two later PGA Pros played on the HS golf team with me(Forest Fezler and Roger Maltbie) they were sophomores my senior year.

I like the sound of the costs at the Tagaytay course.  For the heck of it, I was once checking on the cost of golf here and I must have been looking at information on the Eagle whatever since the one I was reading about was one near Daz.  That is when I said to myself that I wasn't going to waste my time and think about it again.  There must be a bunch of uppercrust who golf at that one.  Some of the rich Filipino with the 60, 70, 80 million peso and more so homes.  Maybe a few retired US admirals living in the area who have kept other golf courses on military bases in operation even when the bases closed down.  Now, with the mention of the rates down in Tagaytay, I might think about giving it another try.  I could use something else to do so I might give golfing another shot and take up the offer after all and mabye see you at the Tagaytay one.  Since neither one of us is much good at it, I bet it would be kind of enjoyable.

Must be the same driving range, I just hit irons there as well.
