Crosswinds Resort Tagaytay
« on: May 13, 2018, 11:06:47 AM »
We spent 2 nights here the beginning of the month for my asawas birthday.  We booked the 1 bdrm superior suite(80 sqm) thru Agoda at a discount just under php 8K total for the stay.  The condo type room included a fully furnished kitchen with cooking utensils, 4 burner stove with oven, microwave, rice cooker, large fridge, place setting for 4.  There was a flat screen TV in both the living area and bedroom. Even had a balcony for me to smoke on off the living area. If you do not have your own vehicle I recommend you not stay here.  The only meal on the property proper is breakfast which was included in the room rate.  You do have the option to cook your own meals.  There is a coffee house and restaurant as you turn off the ridge road to the property but it is a long walk from the hotel.  We got sandwiches from the coffee house on the way in and had the best french rolls since I have been in the Philippines.  The second day we called for pick up orders from Cafe Viola at the main entrance good food but $$$.  Will probably book again as long as I can get a good discount since it seems the normal rate is about php 11K a night or downsize to the 1 bedroom deluxe(50 sqm) or studio(30 sqm).  Did really enjoy the 80 sqm though. :D

They have a little convenience story down below at the bottom of one of those hills where you can get snack sandwiches and other stuff last I remember.  Then again, I wouldn't want to treat my wife to that kind of stuff for her birthday either.
Whatever floats your boat.

We drove through the whole complex looking at the homes, etc., sure did not see it, unless it is one of the shops open during the Xmas season only. :o

Never been to Tagaytay.  What is the attraction of this resort if it has no restaurant and is not close to one either?  How were you able to celebrate the wife's birthday dinner?

Cheers

The attraction is the location with 23K pine trees and being able to relax without the noise of trikes, jeepneys and heavy traffic.  Also being in the Tagaytay area with a multitude of restaurants and views of Lake Taal, etc.  Since we have a vehicle I took the asawa to Antonio's for dinner on her birthday.  Option 2 was for me to cook Osso Bucco , Saffron Risotto and a Caesar Sal

Sorry Chuck, I got the impression from your initial post that there were not many restaurants causing you to order from outside.  Sounds good.

Well, maybe they built a home on the location.  I don't know.  Last I was there was 2011 and bought some gedunk stuff at it.  Don't know if it was open only during Christmas season or not as it was September and they had some Christmas decorations and stuff out front.  I just found a couple of pics with the store front but my wife is in them so I will just post the one with signs which I went and downsized.  It was in Christmas Village direction.
Whatever floats your boat.

Yes they still have the Xmas Village with  the gedunk store. It was not open since Xmas season does not start til 1 Sep.

Literally hundreds of restaurants in Tagaytay, to include the number one rated restaurant in all of the Philippines "Antonio's".   Quality and prices of the restaurants run the gamut of very cheap to very expensive and the quality is all over the map as well.   Sooo, there is no lack of places to eat.  The main attraction, however, is the weather.  It is normally about 5 - 7C cooler here than Manila, with a nice breeze.

Camera shy. Is you wife Filipina? Have never met one that wasn't taking selfies by the thousands, lol. Drives me nuts.
