blocking               popup ads

edit "C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts" or "/etc/hosts" as appropriate.

insert this text "0.0.0.0 www.google-analytics.com # google tracking"

Change the "www.google-analytics.com" to the dns resolved name of the server you want to block.
Change "# google tracking" to "# What ever note to yourself you want"

Every time there is a dns call to the offending server it will resolve to 0.0.0.0 which is null.

Hope this helps

Can't see anything here, but I'm using 'Opera' which has an inbuilt blocker. Check, set, forget - many, many years ago

I've been using Opera now for a year and it's been terrific and it really helps also with the grand kids who like to watch the Youtube cartoons and videos... all the adds blocked so no more getting up and clicking off the add.
My views would be from someone who lives out in the province close to in-laws on a pension.  Norwegian and French heritage.

I'm gonna have to get the kid to work this for me.....I still have a rotary telephone that hangs on the wall with a Luxury 25 foot squirrely extension cord that I talk into with family.
